The participants had the opportunity to learn by doing and improving their facilitation skills by leading GCED workshops for the other participants in small groups. Participants experienced and elaborated their workshops on topics like the carbon footprint, the three strategies for sustainability (efficiency, consistency and sufficinecy), virtual water, biodiversity and pollinating insects, cliamte change and its connection with privileges, peak oil and the socio-ecological problems related to his extraction and usage around the world.

In this regard, participants reflected on how to communicate effectively in a multicultural context through a card game called Barnga. There was also a wonderful sharing of folk dances, traditions as well as typical foodfrom the different countries involved.

Additionally, the youth workers involved, learned about examples of how to bring the workshops' content to their local contexts, in their personal and professional life as well as with their relatives and friends.

It was a meaningful and enriching experience also and especially because of the involvement and contributions given by the participants. Last but not least, many thanks are due to the Metta farm for the great hospitality, despite the bad weather circumstances, as well as to Kruno, our chef, for providing us with such a delicious vegan food able to win also the most convinced meat eaters hearths

During the week spent together, they became familiar with the concept of Global Citizenship Education (GCED), discovering new educational methods and widening their perception of global problems and possible solutions. The participants had the opportunity to learn by doing and directly test the content they had learned by leading GCED workshops for the other participants in pairs or small groups. The more daring also tested their skills as moderators in the international school in Dresden with high school students, who warmly welcomed them and treasured the open-minding experience.

The contents of the methods covered crucial aspects of our globalized contemporary societies. Participants had the opportunity to elaborate their workshops on topics like world inequalities, our pattern of consumption and the mismanagement of natural resources, the history of food and the relationship with colonialism, the different possible strategies towards sustainability, and our opportunities for action for changing the world. Besides the workshops, Participants used the time to reflect on their actions, writing a letter to themselves about how they want to shape our common future on this beautiful but fragile planet.

The Training course has been also a stage for intercultural exchange and active critical thinking on the mechanisms that leads our societies at the national and international level. In this regard, an intercultural evening has been hosted, during which the participants shared with the group a lot of food, objects, and interesting facts related to their home country. On other evenings, there was time for exchanging ideas about how to transform the school system and to get to know local initiatives that work in education for sustainable development, with Lisa, a local activist, that introduced the participants to her project and shared her passion for biodiversity preservation.

As a result of this Global Learning training, participants received insights on how to modify their behaviour towards a more sustainable lifestyle and got to know examples of how to bring the content to their local contexts, using the GCED methods as a possible and easily applicable means of strengthening values such as tolerance, freedom, ecology and human rights.

PREMIO INTERNAZIONALE 2020

This year competitions of the Premio Internazionale di Marco e Alberto Ippolito project were organized due to pandemic without the final meeting in Reggio Calabria. This time we succeeded in the category of creative writing and Nela and Daniela received not only diplomas but also a book award.

"WHAT´S UP, YOUTH?" VIDEO-CONFERENCE

A year ago we met together with our partners from Sardegna, Belgium and Cyprus in Abbasanta at the advanced preparatory meeting of this project. The youth exchange planned for March 2020 had to be postponed due to pandemic and thus the organizers from Associazione Malik organized a videomeeting, where we discussed the situation in our countries and the plans for implementing this youth exchange! Shall we see each other next spring in Sardegna?

"UP TO US" - ONLINE MEETING

The cooperation with our partners from V4 countries continued virtually again, unfortunately pandemic situation did not allow us to organize the planned meeting in Košice. Hopefully it will be better next year and our teams will meet in Thinkaton in Hungary!

V4 FOR ACTIVE COMMUNITIES

Our project "Up to us - V4 for active communities" within Visegrad cooperation officially started, together with our partners from Hungary, Poland and Slovakia we met in an online meeting and discussed the plan of activities and project calendar. The main event of the project will be the meeting in Hungarian town of Szentendre in the middle of the next year.

ERASMUS DAYS 2020

This year we got involved again into the worldwide event of Erasmus Days, though only online due to the pandemic situation. We prepared several online activities which we published on our facebook. There you can also find greetings from our friends from Cyprus and Sardegna. We thanked our foreign partners and sent them postcards. Happy Erasmus Days 2020!

This year, after a five-year gap we will return to Reggio Calabria again, where we will together with our partners from other European countries present the results of our work and compete in categories of creative writing and photo competition.

PREPARATORY MEETING IN SARDEGNA

At the beginning of December there was a short preparatory meeting of leaders of partner organizations of the Erasmus+ project "What´s up, youth?". We discussed all important parts of the project, went through the programme and visited the venue of the youth exchange, some sights in the neighbourhood and most of all we met face to face with other leaders and organizers of the project as well as representatives of the town of Abbasanta.
